Tragic Fire Incident in Charleroi: Victim Found Dead in Home – Latest Updates

A fifty-year-old died in a fire in his home Monday evening in Charleroi, in Hainaut, the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office said late Tuesday followingnoon. The victim has not been found since firefighters arrived at the scene of the incident.

Firefighters from the Hainaut-Est emergency zone were deployed late Monday followingnoon to control a fire affecting two homes on Boulevard Paul Janson in Charleroi. Firefighters managed to limit the damage but searches carried out on site had so far failed to find the occupant of one of the affected homes. They resumed on Tuesday and firefighters finally found the lifeless body of the victim, born in 1965.

“An autopsy should take place in the coming days. The first elements of the investigation seem to favor the theory of an accident,” commented the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office.
