Tragic hiking accident claims life of 50-year-old woman in the Canary Islands

A 50-year-old woman living in Geel (in Flanders) died on Sunday while hiking in the Canary Islands, reports the Flemish daily Het Nieuwsblad.

When the emergency services were called to the scene, the victim was in cardiac arrest. She died a few minutes later, following several unsuccessful attempts at resuscitation. She was said to have suffered from heat stroke.
