An episode of domestic violence claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman in the city of Seattle, Washington, United States, after she got in the way of a fight between her mother and her stepfather. Apparently, the victim, identified as Angelina Tran, was trying to prevent her parent from continuing to be beaten by the man and she ended up being brutally stabbed.

According to the authorities, it all started with a heated argument between Linh Tran and her husband, Nghiep Kein Chau, inside their home. After a word exchange, the man began to beat the woman around 4:55 am on Monday, August 7, 2023 and an alert was immediately issued to the authorities, who evidenced the attack through closed circuit cameras. of TV.

At that moment, Angelina woke up and ran to where her mother was and used her own body to try to stop the attack, interposing herself between her mother and her stepfather. However, her courageous action was not enough, as the man continued to throw punches indiscriminately no matter which of the two he hit.

During the struggle, Linh managed to escape to get help and Angelina grabbed Chau by the body to hold him back from chasing his mother towards the exit. Furious, the man grabbed her stepdaughter and dragged her into the kitchen where he began stabbing her multiple times with a knife.

Although the young woman tried to escape while being injured, the man continued to attack her on the floor of the house, even after ending her life. The data from the forensic report revealed that the victim received 107 stab wounds in total throughout the body.

About 15 minutes after the authorities noticed the fight, a police unit arrived at the scene and discovered Chau holding the kitchen knife in his hands. Immediately, he was ordered to put it down and he was taken into police custody, local media reported.

The man’s bail is set at $5 million and his arraignment is scheduled for August 31, 2023 in King County Superior Court.

Linh Tran and Nghiep Kein Chau got married last year after 18 years of romantic relationship. For her part, Angelina was a student at the University of Washington and was on the brink of finishing.

In memory of the young woman, her family members organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to support the Asia Pacific National Center on Aging, as Angelina had a personal commitment to making a difference in the lives of older adults. “Your support of her is not only a tribute to her, but also a continuation of her legacy of care and compassion for her,” her petition read.
