Edmond Impens, a 63-year-old motorcyclist, lost his life following a collision with a tree on Saturday evening in Hamme (East Flanders), the public prosecutor’s office said on Sunday.
The man, taken to hospital following the accident, died from his injuries. As the victim was the only one involved, no investigation was opened.

This announcement had the effect of a bomb in the region. Edmond was a motorcycle enthusiast and had hundreds of thousands of kilometers on his clock. He had even recently become a member of the management of the “VZW Hartrijders” association, a group of bikers who mobilize for good causes, in particular to support children who suffer from autism.
