Dramatic news for the relatives of a 22-year-old Belgian. On Sunday August 12, the emergency services of the Swiss canton of Schwyz had to intervene. They discovered a body on the Ortstock, a mountain whose two peaks culminate at just over 2700 meters. “A climber had gotten lost a day earlier and had fallen,” said a police spokesman for Het Laatste Nieuws. “It is not known how far the victim fell, but he died of his injuries.”

At around 6:30 p.m., authorities attempted to extricate the body, but thunderstorms caused problems during the operation. It was not until Friday that the Swiss authorities managed to identify the body. “The man was not registered as a tourist in the area,” a police spokesman said. “He was passing through.”
