Kochi: A female doctor was found dead after falling from the top of Amrita Hospital building.
Dr. Idukki Adimali Panikkal Kallai at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. Lakshmi Vijayan (32) died. He was admitted here for treatment. The hospital authorities informed the police that it was suicide.
Last week, Lakshmi was admitted to Amrita for surgery and treatment following a fractured elbow in an accident in Delhi. The incident took place at around five o’clock in the morning the other day. According to the information provided by the relatives, Lakshmi got up to go to the washroom and was later found dead. Police have received CCTV footage of Dr. Lakshmi, who was admitted on the third floor of the hospital, walking to the eighth floor at around 5 am.
The dead body was found lying on the temporary roof attached to the third floor. Doctors have informed the police that Lakshmi was suffering from depression. Dr. Lakshmi came to the hospital last night with her mother. Cheranallur police have registered a case and started investigation.
