The five passengers of the Titan submersible, wanted since Sunday June 18 in the North Atlantic, near the wreck of the Titanic, are dead, the company announced in a press release on Thursday June 22.

“We now believe that our boss Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, Hamish Harding and Paul-Henri Nargeolet are sadly dead”OceanGate wrote in a statement.

The US Coast Guard said the wreckage of the submersible found showed that the craft suffered a “catastrophic implosion”. The sonars having detected nothing for several days, the tragedy undoubtedly occurred at the beginning of the week, even before the start of the search.
