Personnel news from Vienna-Hütteldorf: Right-back Martin Koscelnik received permission from the club on Tuesday to travel abroad for final contract talks and sports medical tests. The 14-time Slovak international, who joined SK Rapid from Slovan Liberec in the summer of 2022, will play for Dutch club NAC Breda in the future as the two clubs have also reached an agreement on the transfer terms, which have not been disclosed .
Koscelnik played 26 competitive games in green and white in his first season, in the current season he made two Bundesliga appearances (90 minutes against Hartberg and most recently the first half against WSG Tirol) and one short appearance (five minutes) in the 7-0 win in the first round of the ÖFB Cup against SR Donaufeld. The likeable Slovak was not granted a goal in his Rapid era.
Managing Director Sport Markuskatzer says on the right-back’s departure: “I would like to thank Martin Koscelnik personally and on behalf of SK Rapid for his commitment over the last 13 months. He was always a well-integrated part of our team and behaved in an exemplary manner even when he had to sit on the bench or wasn’t in the matchday squad. I wish Martin all the best in his new career position, we currently have players like Thorsten Schick or Moritz Oswald who can and will perform very well in his position.”
