The Irada and Mental Health Complex, in Jeddah, held an educational program for inmate patients under the auspices of the complex’s general supervisor, Dr. Khaled Al-Awfi, with the organization and supervision of the Treatment Department, created a psychological treatment program in a practical way that changes the usual pattern of psychological programs.
According to a statement, the program included many visits, the most prominent of which was the visit to the King Abdul Aziz Complex to cover the Holy Kaaba. The program was applied to the target group of psychiatric patients as part of the treatment journey, and because of its impact on many therapeutic aspects, the most important of which was the integration of inmates with Society and the extent to which the external community accepts them.
Social integration
The program touches on the psychological aspect of patients, by supporting and enhancing self-confidence, through their constructive and purposeful participation, such as participating in weaving the Kaaba covering – under the supervision of specialists – and thus raising the patient’s ability to social integration, breaking many psychological barriers, and enhancing religious and cultural values.
The program proved its effectiveness in the social, psychological and organizational therapeutic aspects, and also helped in measuring the patient’s condition and the extent of his response to drug and behavioral treatment.
