Translator weeps at Zelensky’s words on infant killings on air

A video clip circulated on social media showed a CNN translator crying while translating Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech to the European Parliament, when he spoke of child casualties as a result of Russian bombing.

AndOn Tuesday, the Ukrainian president praised Europe’s efforts to defend Ukraine, noting, “We have proven that we are capable of defending our country… and we will win our battle against Russia.”

This came in a speech delivered by Zelensky to the European Parliament in Brussels, via video link, during the session devoted to discussing the developments of the war in Ukraine.

We will not surrender

The President of Ukraine said that “the Russian attack will not deprive us of our freedom and existence… and we will not surrender.”

He added, “We will continue the resistance to stay with Europe. We want to be within the European Union.”

As the Russian military operation enters its sixth day on Tuesday, the Ukrainian president described earlier today the Russian bombing of Kharkiv as a “war crime”, stressing that the defense of Kyiv is a “top priority” for his country.

“The bombing of Kharkiv is a war crime. It is state terrorism on the part of Russia,” he said in a statement in a video clip, adding that “the protection of the capital today is the state’s top priority.”

Earlier, the Ukrainian president called for Moscow to be banned in all ports and airports in the world, and advised Russia not to “waste its time” in his country.

He also stressed that the bombing of Ukrainian cities by its forces would not make Kyiv acquiesce in the conditions set by Moscow for a truce.

And he said in a video clip posted on “Facebook”, on Tuesday, that the first round of Russian-Ukrainian talks took place on Monday in the wake of bombing and shooting attacks targeting his country, believing that Russia is trying in this simple way to pressure Kyiv.
