Transpetro confirms plan to resume ship production

The president of Transpetro (a subsidiary of Petrobras), Sérgio Bacci, confirmed that a working group was created at the company to present a detailed plan for the resumption of contracting vessels. According to him, the new ships will be ordered according to Petrobras’ demand.

“The resumption of hiring will not take place at any price and at any time. Orders should mainly include gas tankers and vessels for transporting light and dark products, but the exact number of units is under analysis”, said the president of Transpetro.

Also according to Bacci, Transpetro is working to try to launch the public notice between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 to define the national shipyards, which will benefit from the new orders. “In addition to Transpetro’s strategic business issues and support for Petrobras’ logistics, the resumption of the shipbuilding industry is a boost to economic activity, with the creation of jobs and the development of the country,” he said.

The executive also informed that the future of Transpetro will remain linked to the development of Brazil. “We will invest heavily again in the coming years. The Transpetro of the next 25 years will be a company connected with a more sustainable world towards a fair energy transition, recognized for its work with communities and which will make its workforce proud”, said Bacci.

Navalshore 2023

In the context of returning to construction in Brazil, Transpetro resumes its participation in Navalshore 2023, after several years absent from the event. The 17th edition of Navalshore – Maritime Industry Fair and Conference takes place from August 22 to 24, 2023, at ExpoMag, in Rio de Janeiro. Considered the main meeting of the naval industry in Latin America, the event will bring together shipowners, shipyards, manufacturers and suppliers of the market to promote the debate of this ecosystem.

“Being at Navalshore will be fundamental in this new phase of investments and the resumption of the expansion of Transpetro’s own fleet, especially since we decided that the whole process will be done with great responsibility and will not be at any price and in any term”, pointed out the president of Navalshore. Transpetro. The Petrobras subsidiary, as well as AkzoNobel, are sponsors of the 17th edition of Navalshore.

In addition to Transpetro, the event brings together around 90 exhibiting companies from the naval industry chain, including Wartsila, Rolls Royce, Kongsberg, Cummins, Mitsubishi, Yanmar and Sotreq. Among the exhibiting shipyards are Atlântico Sul, Rio Maguari, Belov, Mauá and São Miguel shipyard.

Conference

During the event, the Navalshore Conference also takes place, whose guiding themes will be: ways to strengthen the naval and offshore industry and the energy transition in the maritime industry. The president of Transpetro, Sérgio Bacci, participates in the panel conference on public authorities and the main claimants. In addition to Bacci, the panel includes the director of Navigation and Waterways at the Ministry of Ports and Airports, Dino Batista, and the vice-admiral, Celso Mizutani Koga, director of Program Management at the Brazilian Navy.
