Transport Business Stoppage in Belgium: Updates on Post Delivery Services

2024-04-22 16:21:54

From 22:00 this Monday evening, the transport business will stop and the vast majority of trucks will therefore not be able to take mail and parcels to the distribution offices, explains Thierry Tasset, secretary general of CGSP Poste, and Stéphane Daussaint, general manager of CSC-Transcom Postes.

We also have to see if the workers who mobilized on Monday in the distribution offices in Wallonia and Brussels – and who for some went to block the sorting centers in Liège work on Tuesday, continue the representatives of the socialist and Christian trade unions.

This Monday, almost no postman went on a distribution round with newspapers, mail or parcels both in the capital and in the south of the country. Only a few had still taken up the service. In Flanders, on the other hand, activity proceeded normally, with the exception of the province of Limburg.

On the management side, we repeat that we apologize for these actions and emphasize that “the priority is social dialogue”. The meeting with the trade unions, which is scheduled for Wednesday, can also be brought forward to Tuesday in the early afternoon, it was said in the ranks of the trade union on Monday afternoon.
