Treatments for Ebola virus disease

Overview

The WHO rolling guidance on treatment for Ebola virus disease (EVD) contains the Organization’s most up-to-date recommendations for the clinical management of people with EVD. Providing concrete and effective advice to ensure optimal care for patients with EVD throughout their illness is essential. The evolutionary orientations are available both in pdf format (via the “Download” button) and through a online platform in French and English, and are updated regularly as new evidence emerges.

This first version of the rolling guidance for the clinical management of EVD contains four new recommendations regarding the use of EVD treatments, including two strong recommendations in favor of the use of monoclonal antibody therapies. This new document is written to accompany optimized supportive care (oSoC) for EVD standard operating procedures (5, 6). The rolling guidance presents high-quality evidence regarding the effectiveness of EVD treatments and WHO recommendations for their use.
