Bayern Munich secured a 3-0 victory over Arminia Bielefeld in the DFB-Pokal quarterfinal on Wednesday evening at the Allianz Arena, advancing to the semifinals where they will face Bayer Leverkusen next week.

The goals came from Leroy Sané in the 23rd minute, Jamal Musiala in the 58th, and a late strike from Serge Gnabry in the 89th minute. Bayern dominated possession with 68% and recorded 18 shots, seven on target, while Bielefeld managed only three attempts, none on target.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel made three changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, bringing in Dayot Upamecano, Konrad Laimer, and Mathys Tel, with Upamecano starting at center-back alongside Dayot Upamecano and Laimer operating in midfield.

The win keeps Bayern on track for a potential treble this season, having already clinched the Bundesliga title earlier in April. Their next fixture is the DFB-Pokal semifinal against Bayer Leverkusen on April 3 at the BayArena, followed by the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal against Paris Saint-Germain on April 30 at the Parc des Princes, with the return leg scheduled for May 6 at the Allianz Arena.

Leverkusen, who eliminated VfB Stuttgart in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 away win, have won their last five matches across all competitions, including a 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga last weekend. PSG, meanwhile, advanced to the Champions League semifinals after a 4-1 aggregate win over Barcelona, having won the first leg 3-2 at home and the second leg 2-1 away.

Bayern have not lost a competitive match at home since September 2023 and have scored in 28 consecutive home games across all competitions. Their last defeat in the DFB-Pokal came in the 2021-22 quarterfinals against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Tuchel confirmed after the match that Manuel Neuer would start in goal for the Leverkusen semifinal, despite a minor thigh strain sustained in training earlier in the week. “He’s fit to play,” Tuchel said. “We’ll monitor him, but he’s ready.”

No disciplinary action was taken against any Bayern player during the match, with Bielefeld receiving two yellow cards for tactical fouls in the second half.

The DFB-Pokal semifinal draw placed Bayern as the away team in the first leg against Leverkusen, with the return leg scheduled for April 24 at the Allianz Arena should the tie require it.

Bayern’s next training session is scheduled for Thursday morning at their headquarters in Munich, with media access permitted for the first 15 minutes.
