The Trois-Rivières theater company Les Sages Fous begins a tour of the United States from November 7 to December 8 with its show Tricyckle.
Jacob Brindamour, co-creator of the show and sole performer, will present a series of performances in the northeastern United States, including a series of three shows at the prestigious La MaMa theater presentation center, in the heart of Manhattan. This art center is referred to by the New York Times as “a multicultural hive of avant-garde theater and performance art.”
Created in Trois-Rivières, Tricyckle is intended to be a fairground game, a game of illusions and metamorphoses; a show where the human, the object and the puppet coexist. The tricycle then transforms before the eyes of spectators. It is also a nod to the men who travel around the city of Trois-Rivières on their old tricycles with their makeshift trailers.
After its stop at La MaMa, the show will return to Mayo Street Arts in Portland, on November 18 and 19, exactly ten years after the visit of Les Sages Fous with their Orphan Circus. Then it will be the turn of the Sandglass Theater in Vermont on December 1st and 2nd, then the Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline (Massachusetts) on December 6th and 8th. (MEBA)
