“Truant Day” – Information – Łódź Police

“Truant’s Day”

March 21 has long been called “Truant’s Day” by young people. Many schools today do not offer typical classes. Despite this, many young people spend this time outside the walls of educational institutions. Many dangerous situations may arise during proverbial truancy. On this day, police officers will focus especially on ensuring the safety of the youngest and reacting to any dangerous behavior.

Today is the first day of calendar spring. For school youth, however, it is “Truant’s Day”, which has been celebrated for years. On this day, many students, without the knowledge of their teachers or parents, voluntarily leave the school premises to meet their peers. It sometimes happens that young people drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, use words commonly considered vulgar, and engage in hooligan acts. Unfortunately, they often become victims of crimes due to their irresponsible behavior. To avoid unpleasant incidents, police officers pay special attention to the behavior of young people. The officers carry out activities aimed at, among others: to expose people behaving illegally. Today, we will particularly focus on observing and inspecting places where tobacco products and alcohol are sold, especially those located near schools, educational institutions, sports and recreation facilities and railway stations. If any irregularities are discovered and regulations are violated, we will take appropriate actions. The police will also inspect places where young people meet to detect minors who play truant, are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or smoke cigarettes. The police will react decisively to aggressive behavior, attempts at vandalism, and behavior whose victims may be young people.
