A spectacular accident took place late in the morning in the village of Saint-Gérard, in the province of Namur. A truck carrying thousands of beets overturned on its side while making a turn.
According to information from our correspondent Johan Koopmans, this bend, near the village pharmacy, is quite well known for being dangerous for trucks. In addition, the fairly rough road did not make the driver’s task easy.
He was injured, treated on the spot, then taken to hospital, but his life is not in danger. An ambulance and a SMUR were on site. A tow truck arrived and the beets spread on the ground were transferred to another truck.
