Trudeau invites AMLO to an event to support refugees from Ukraine

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador spoke by telephone with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

The talk revolved around the war on Ukraine and his humanitarian impact.

Trudeau reported that he invited President López Obrador to participate in an event in support of the refugees and displaced Ukrainians for the war.

The event in support of Ukrainian refugees and displaced persons will take place on April 9 under the name ‘Stand Up for Ukraine‘ and will aim fundraising.

In addition to the war in Ukraine, the Mexican president and the Canadian prime minister spoke regarding the bilateral progress achieved following the North American Leaders Summit from November 2021.

They discussed the economic relationship within the T-MECas well as contributions from canadian investors to the Mexican economy.

López Obrador and Trudeau also endorsed their commitment to counter the climate change.

The Canadian Prime Minister’s Office assured in a release that both leaders expressed their desire to resume communication in the coming months.
