Trump explodes against judge who "puts obstacles" in his absence from a trial

NEW YORK.- Donald Trump protested this Monday ats obstacles of Judge Juan Merchan to be absent from the criminal trial against him in New York, after refusing to excuse him next week for the hearing on his immunity in the United States Supreme Court or on Wednesdays, which he theoretically has free.

At the end of the first day of the trialTrump’s defense asked the judge to excuse him on Thursday of next week, when the Supreme Court is scheduled to address arguments about presidential immunity that may affect other criminal cases he faces, according to journalists present in the room.

“Speaking before the Supreme Court is a big deal, and I can certainly appreciate why your client would want to be there, but a trial in the New York Supreme Court… it’s also a big deal“Merchan told attorney Todd Blanche, adding, “I’ll see you here next week.”

Blanche also brought up the timetable stipulated by the judge, which requires Trump to be present four days a week not counting Wednesdays, the only day free from trial on which the former president can schedule his campaign events as a Republican candidate for the presidential elections.

The lawyer asked the judge to excuse Trump if there is finally a session on a Wednesday, but he did not give him a complete guarantee, arguing that there may be changes if the trial goes slowly and remembering that for any procedure involving the jury his client must be there.

Likewise, the magistrate left in the air the possibility that Trump could attend the graduation of his youngest son, Barronon May 17, due to the remoteness of the date.
