While military officials report successful high-complexity interception tests at White Sands, lawmakers have excluded the project from the standard 2027 defense budget, threatening the program with a total lack of baseline funding.
The Diverging Cost Projections and Fiscal Reality
At a military conference in Huntsville, Alabama, on Tuesday, August 11, General Michael Guetlein, who heads the Golden Dome program within the U.S. Space Force, defended the project’s financial feasibility. Guetlein maintains that the shield can be constructed within its 185 milliards de dollars allocation, roughly 160 milliards d’euros.
