Since 2018, the Austrian Democracy Monitor has shown that trust in politics and the state is declining. Only a third still thinks that the political system works well and trusts the federal government and parliament. It wasn’t always like this: in 1981, only 30 percent agreed that politicians don’t do their job well. In 2022 it was 64 percent.
