Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi is expected in Haut Katanga to promote social peace between communities.
President Félix Tshisekedi instructed the government on the need to take urgent measures to put an end to the resurgence of inter-community conflicts observed recently. The last Council of Ministers held on Friday addressed this issue. The Head of State must also make a trip very soon to the province of Haut-Katanga, in the south-east, on the border with Zambia, where the cohabitation between Katangan and Kasaian communities poses a problem.

Some xenophobic acts can sometimes go as far as violence against certain communities who are discriminated against because they are not from where they are established. For example in Greater Katanga, some are even called “ invaders by the locals.
According to Patrick Muyaya, the government spokesman, “ the tension of the social environment and the political climate has settled in these regions, thus threatening social peace. It is for this reason that the Head of State takes this problem head on and he intends to move to promote social peace.
Félix Tshisekedi calls on political leaders, religious leaders, active forces and all the other components of Congolese society to invest in ” positive ethnic interpenetration », Ajoute Patrick Muyaya.
Four ministers are particularly responsible for ensuring social stability. The holders of the interior, justice, culture, youth and the minister at the presidency of the Republic. They must work to prevent and suppress any movement that would incite hatred and tribalism.
This will involve the organization of inter-community dialogues with the involvement of traditional chiefs and religious leaders and the initiation of cultural, associative and sporting projects that integrate.
