Tua Tagovailoa, the young quarterback (24) of the Miami Dolphins, made a fabulous comeback on Sunday during the second day of the NFL regular season, and allowed his team to win at the Baltimore Ravens (42-38 ). At the start of the last quarter, the latter led 35-14. The Ravens had struck from the start with a kick-off return concluded with a touchdown from 103 yards.
Then Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore QB, had thrown three touchdown passes, before registering one on a run of 79 yards. The Ravens were like a dream. But Tagovailoa woke up in the last 15 minutes and threw four touchdowns. Miami came back to 35-35, a field goal from Justin Tucker put Baltimore back in the lead (38-35) and, 14 seconds from the end, Jaylen Waddle scored the TD for the victory for the Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa finished the game with 469 yards. His receivers also feasted (190 yards for Tyreek Hill and 171 for Waddle).
Tampa Bay s’impose à New Orleans
Trey Lance, the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, saw his season come to an abrupt end. Named starter this season, in place of Jimmy Garoppolo, who took the team to the final two years ago, Lance broke his right ankle early in the game. He will have to have surgery and his season is over. Garoppolo, propelled on the ground, suddenly won San Francisco against Seattle (27-7).
New Orleans’ seven-game winning streak over Tampa Bay came to an end on Sunday. At home, the Saints were beaten by the Buccaneers (20-10), after a game long held by the defenses (3-3 at the end of the third quarter). Tom Brady was sober with 190 yards and a touchdown. Jameis Winston, the QB of New Orleans, has suffered (three sacks, three interceptions). Jacksonville, subscriber to the last place in the NFL for two seasons, signed a nice victory against Indianapolis (24-0), with a very good Trevor Lawrence (235 yards, two TD’s).
Burrow and Cincinnati still beaten
The Cincinnati Bengals, finalists of the last Super Bowl, continue to suffer. Already beaten by Pittsburgh, this time they gave in to the Dallas Cowboys (20-17). Joe Burrow has been sacked six times.
