Dongwang received complaints from parents on Wednesday (8th) that a middle school in Tuen Mun required students to be vaccinated before they could participate in the casual clothes day. The parents involved criticized the practice as “labeling and discriminating against students”, and also complained that the school had a long history of “taking injections for students to change their merits.” The Education Bureau replied that it is understood that the school has reviewed and cancelled the relevant activities after learning of the parents’ concerns. Dongwang has made inquiries to the school and is waiting for a reply.
It is understood that the school involved is the New Life Education Association Ping An Gospel Middle School. It issued an electronic notice to parents and students on Wednesday, stating that students need to receive two doses of the vaccine, or those who have recovered need only one less dose of the vaccine before they can participate. Casual Clothes Day on the 16th of this month. Students who do not meet the requirements will not be able to participate on the day, which means they need to wear school uniforms to go back to school.
Some parents have criticized that the regulations are equivalent to “labeling and discriminating” against unvaccinated students.
