Turkey, Syria Earthquake; The death toll crossed 12,000; The Ministry of External Affairs says that the 10 stranded Indians are safe

Ankara: The death toll from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria has exceeded 12,000. 2,992 people have been killed in Syria, according to the Civil Defense Department. The death toll in Turkey has crossed 9,000. Three days following the earthquake, the search for those trapped in the rubble is still going on. Adverse weather hampers rescue efforts. Disaster management teams from 25 countries, including India, have joined the rescue operation in Turkey and Syria.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs announced that 10 Indians stranded in Turkey are safe. However, a native of Bengaluru, who had visited Turkey for business purposes, has gone missing. The ministry said efforts have been made to trace him and have contacted his family and the company in Bengaluru where he works. At the same time, India’s aid to Turkey continues. Two NDRF teams have reached Turkey as part of this operation named Operation Dost. Seven vehicles, 101 rescuers including 5 women and four police dogs have reached Turkey. The control room is set up in Adana, Turkey.
