The second round of presidential elections in Turkey passed quietly. Polling stations closed at 17:00 local time (coincides with Moscow time). This was reported by the CEC of the republic, reports TASS. The counting of votes has begun.
In the second round, Turkish citizens choose between incumbent President Erdogan and opposition candidate Kılıçdaroğlu. According to polls, the gap between them is minimal.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on his supporters to “protect the ballot boxes until the election results are tallied.” In case of his victory, the current head of state plans to arrive from Istanbul to Ankara and address the citizens from his residence.
