Turkish Airlines: New Istanbul – Dakar – Bissau Route from June 2026

by

Turkish Airlines has revised its launch date for service to Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau, to June 8, 2026. The airline had initially planned to begin flights on March 21, 2026, but adjusted the schedule in recent weeks, according to AeroRoutes.

The Istanbul-based carrier will operate the route as a continuation of its service to Dakar, Senegal, utilizing Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Flights will operate twice weekly. The flight number TK593 will depart Istanbul at 15:55 and arrive in Dakar at 20:40, continuing to Bissau with arrival at 22:40. The return flight, TK594, will depart Bissau at 23:55, arriving in Dakar at 01:50 the following day, before continuing to Istanbul with arrival at 12:50 the next day.

Turkish Airlines’ decision to expand its West African network with the addition of Bissau underscores its growing commitment to the region, according to a report from TRT Afrika. The airline’s board of directors approved the plans, contingent on market conditions. The launch will position Turkish Airlines as a key player in connecting West Africa to its global network, building on existing service to Accra, Abidjan, Lagos, and Dakar, as noted in a report by Traicy.com.

The revised launch date follows a period of planning and adjustment, as highlighted by AeroRoutes. The publication also noted an ongoing issue with unauthorized use of its content by the Turkish aviation portal “HavaSosyalMedya.”

The introduction of the Istanbul-Bissau route is expected to transform travel to and from the region, according to Travel and Tour World. The airline anticipates capturing additional market share with its expanded network and increasing demand for international travel.
