Ankara: Turkey carried out airstrikes on Syrian Kurdish strongholds in northern Syria for the second time after the deadly bombing in Ankara, Turkey. The Turkish Defense Ministry announced that the Turkish military had carried out airstrikes against the Syrian Kurdish Protection Units. The statement also said that 15 centers of Kurdish militants were destroyed. The counter-attacks followed a suicide bombing at the entrance to the Turkish Interior Ministry building in Ankara on Sunday.

Two assailants were killed and two police officers were injured in the incident. Xinhua news agency reported that the two attackers killed were members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and came from Syria.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warned on Wednesday that all Kurdish terrorist strongholds in Syria and Iraq are legitimate targets for the Turkish military. Turkey says the bombers came from Syria and threatens cross-border attacks.
