Turkish drama returns to MBC… The ban on series officially ends

Group has concluded MBC Saudi Arabia has partnered with two Turkish TV production companies, Medyapim and Ay Yapim, for five years, officially ending the ban on Turkish soap operas.

In 2018, MBC suspended the hugely popular Turkish dramas on its channels, for political reasons stemming from the tensions at that time between Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Since then, many have returned Turkish series Gradually to the programs of the Saudi network, specifically the Shahid platform, but this deal indicates an official return.

The partnership, which was revealed in the French city of Cannes, includes deals that allow the Saudi group to take a look at the series’ paper before competitors, get discounts when buying a large number of works, and produce Arabic-language content for the Middle East and North African market.
