On Friday, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces exchanged accusations over the shooting of a Turkish evacuation plane as it was landing at Wadi Sedna airport outside Khartoum, injuring a crew member and damaging fuel tanks.

The Sudanese army added in its statement that the plane landed safely and is being repaired.

For its part, the Rapid Support Forces denied shooting the plane and said that the army was spreading “lies”.

And the Rapid Support Forces stated in a statement: “Our forces remained strictly committed to the humanitarian truce that we agreed to since midnight, and it is not true that we targeted any aircraft in the sky of Wadi Sayedna in Omdurman.”

Hundreds were killed and tens of thousands fled, two weeks following the conflict broke out between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.

On Thursday evening, the two sides agreed to extend the ceasefire for 72 hours to allow humanitarian access, but fighting broke out in parts of the capital, Khartoum, on Friday, witnesses said and a live video broadcast showed.
