Turkish presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu said on Sunday night that his rival, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, “did not achieve the results he wanted” in the elections.

Commenting on the counting of votes, Kilicdaroglu confirmed: “The data continues, and we will accept a run-off.” And he stressed, in statements along with the leaders of other parties in his coalition, that he would win the presidential elections if a run-off was held.

“If it is our nation’s decision to hold a second round, we will definitely win it,” the CHP chief told reporters, adding that “the will for change in society is higher than 50 percent.”

Earlier in the night Kilicdaroglu had tweeted that “we will not sleep tonight” and called for all ballot papers to be counted.

Klichdaroglu added: “We will stay here until the last vote is counted in the elections,” but declined to mention the outcome of the votes.

For his part, the opposition mayor of Ankara said: “It is very likely that the Turkish presidential election candidates will run a run-off.”

Turkey is heading to a run-off for the presidential elections on May 28, after most of the ballots were counted and none of the candidates obtained an absolute majority.

For his part, the candidate who finished third, Sinan Ogan, declared that he was “not inclined” to support any party in the run-off. It is noteworthy that Ogan won about 5.25% of the vote.
