Turkish election results: He headed for a second presidential round for the first time in the country’s history
On Monday, Turkey began preparing for the first run-off in the presidential elections, after a fierce electoral competition that saw President Recep Tayyip Erdogan advance his rival, Kemal Kilgadaroglu, without succeeding in securing enough votes to confirm his victory in the first round.
While the elections witnessed a high turnout, Erdogan won 49.4% of the vote, while Kiljdaroglu got 45.0%, after more than 98% were counted. The presidential election round is scheduled to be held for the second time on May 28.

Erdogan: Our country has completed a new democratic wedding
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey has completed a new democratic wedding in the May 14 elections.
This came in a speech he delivered to a crowd of his supporters gathered in front of the headquarters of the Justice and Development Party in the capital, Ankara.
Erdogan added, “We are far ahead in the elections, although the results are not final yet.”
He pointed to the victory of the People’s Alliance in the parliamentary elections, saying: “The People’s Alliance (which includes 4 parties led by the Justice and Development Party) wins the majority of seats in Parliament, according to the election results.”
Erdogan expressed his belief that he will end the first round of the presidential elections by obtaining more than 50% of the vote.
And he added, “But if our people decide to postpone the election to the second round, we will welcome that.”
And he added, “Regardless of the numbers, the winner in these elections is our country and our people, and we have experienced elections that are unparalleled in the world in terms of the participation rate, which is one of the highest in the history of our country.”
He continued, “During our political history, we have respected the national will, and we will respect this will in the current elections and upcoming elections.”

Sinan Ogan is not inclined to support any presidential candidate in the run-off
Turkish presidential candidate Sinan Ogan said that he is not inclined to support any side in the run-off, if the presidential elections are not decided in the first round.
Erdoğan received 49.4% of the vote, while Kılıçdaroğlu received 45.0%.

Kemal Kilicdaroglu: Erdogan did not achieve the desired results
Turkish opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu said that his rival, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, could not get the percentage of votes he hoped to get, then added that “elections cannot be won from the balcony.”
“We will win these elections, even in the second round,” Kılıçdaroğlu said, during a press conference in Ankara.
