Türkiye lose 2-1 to Faroe Islands

Türkiye suffered a surprise loss to Faroe Islands 2-1 on Sunday in their sixth UEFA Nations League Group 1 League C fixture.

Neither team was able to unblock the situation in the first half at the Torsvollur stadium in Torshavn, the capital of the North Atlantic archipelago.

The Faroe Islands opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a close-range shot from defender Viljormur Davidsen, served by Solvi Vatnhamar.

The home side doubled their lead eight minutes later thanks to a Joan Edmundsson goal.

Türkiye reduced the deficit to just one goal thanks to an 89th-minute goal from Serdar Gurler.

Despite this defeat, Türkiye finished the matches at the top of Group 1 with 13 points, four wins, one draw and one loss.

Luxembourg are in second place with 11 points, while the Faroe Islands are third with eight points.

Lithuania finished last in the group with just one point.
