Turning point in the Huseyn case: a deported 14-year-old is back in Salzburg

A year ago, a 13-year-old from Salzburg was deported to Azerbaijan. Family and friends fought for his return.

Six police officers picked up the then 13-year-old Huseyn and his parents more than a year ago at the asylum center on Alpenstrasse. The family was deported to Azerbaijan in February 2022 .

After months of litigation and an emotional rollercoaster ride, the now 14-year-old was able to return to Salzburg on Tuesday. Supporters of the young boy have worked to ensure that Huseyn can return – and helped him and his family to legally fight the deportation.
