As if nothing had happened, a television reporter hit by a car in the middle of a live broadcast from West Virginia continued the narration.
Tori Yorgey, weather reporter at WSAZ, transmitted bad weather incidents from Charleston when it was struck by a driver passing through the area.
Yorgey and news anchor Tim Irr discuss a water line breaking due to freezing temperatures when – as a result of the vehicle impact – the communicator falls to the ground.
Immediately, the reporter stands up and exclaims: “My God, I just got hit by a car!” “I just got hit by a car, but I’m fine, Tim,” the woman continues.
“We are all fine. This is live TV for you!” adds Yorgey.
“In fact, I was hit by a car when I was in college, as well as now,” recalls the meteorologist trying to calm things down.
Irr, who was only listening to Yorgey as he didn’t have access to the visuals, asked her if she was okay, to which she replied, “We’re fine, Tim. Everything is fine”.
“You know that it’s my last week at work and this is what happens. My whole life flashed before my eyes, but this is live television and everything is fine,” insists the narrator between nervous laughs.
Yorgey points out, “I thought we were in a safe location, but we had to move the camera around a bit.”
There are no details about the identity of the person who hit the reporter with the SUV and what caused the vehicle to go out of control. However, in the images, a woman can be heard apologizing, while Yorgey assures her that everything is under control and tells her that she is very kind for asking.
