New Delhi: Police have registered a case against director Ram Gopal Varma for tweeting ‘Mahabharata’ against NDA presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu. ‘If Draupadi is the President, then who are the Pandavas? Who are the Kauravas? ‘ – was his tweet.
Telangana BJP leader Gudur Narayana Reddy has lodged a complaint against Ram Gopal Verma for allegedly showing disrespect to the SC and ST factions. Narayana Reddy said that the police had assured him that stern action would be taken against him and he did not think he would ever tweet again or make such a bad statement against anyone.
Later, Ram Gopal Varma came on the scene with an explanation. He tweeted that Draupadi was his favorite character in the Mahabharata and that the name was so rare that he remembered the related characters and that his expression was not meant to hurt anyone’s feelings.
