Twenty guides were poisoned in the Chimay region. Several were taken to vomit. According to the first elements, water would once again be the source of this collective intoxication.
It was during a night spent at a nearby camp that 12 guides were contaminated by water. On their return, officials can only see the damage. “We notice that there are several anime who fall ill, who vomit. Right away, we don’t really make a connection, we don’t really understand why. We say to ourselves that it may be the omelette that we ate at noon which was not ok”, explains Elise Vanheghe, leader of the Ath guides.
Symptoms spread quickly. Results ? A total of 20 girls fall ill in the camp. 5 of them spent a few hours in the hospital. “The hospitalization itself was absolutely not serious. We just had to rehydrate urgently. And that’s how we sent 2 girls back to the emergency room later in the evening because they had to be rehydrated. They couldn’t make the way back for an hour and a half in that state”continues the facilitator responsible.
The sick guides went home. The neighboring camp, from where the contamination was observed, was closed to him. Almost the entire group was intoxicated.

But this Wednesday noon, the hospitalized guides were much better. Some have even decided to take over the camp. The only condition to be able to return? 48 hours of incubation without symptoms. The 20 infected girls will therefore almost all be back this Wednesday evening for the last three days of the camp.
For the group, this is excellent news and above all relief since the camp is always a moment much awaited by the members of the youth movements.
