Peshawar | Eight people were killed in twin blasts at a police station where Pakistan’s counter-terrorism office was working. More than 50 people were injured. The blast took place in an office working in the northwestern Saath Valley. The cause of the explosion is unclear.

Provincial Police Chief Akhtar Hayat said that an old armory had been operating in the office and that this was the cause of the blast. It is also being investigated whether it was a terrorist attack. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The possibility of suicide attack is also suspected.

Most of those killed were officers of the counter-terrorism force.

The Saath Valley was earlier under the control of militants. The area was liberated from militants in a military operation in 2009.
