Twitter is testing a new feature on its web version to detach from conversations.

Twitter is currently testing a tool that allows users to un-tag themselves to block unwanted mentions in social network threads, with the aim of giving them control of their notifications.

The company has been working on a feature for some time that allows a user to “unlink” tweets where they have been mentioned, with the aim of… disengage from conversations they don’t want to be part of. He has now started testing it on the web.

Twitter for the web will start showing a button in the Posts Options section – represented by three horizontal dots – which will display as follows “Leave this conversation”.

Once clicked, a window appears explaining the consequences of choosing this option: the account or user name is not tagged, prevent future mentions and notifications are stopped.

However, Twitter clarified that leaving a conversation does not mean that users can no longer access or view it.
