Twitter is working on a feature to better control identifications

According to engineer and researcher Jane Manchun Wong, the company will offer several possibilities to manage these identifications.

Internet users will therefore be able to choose the option of their choice between ensuring that any account can mention them, that only followed accounts can do so or that the function is completely deactivated.

Giving users more control over mentions is in line with other recent Twitter privacy features, such as limiting replies and the ability to opt out of threads.

This novelty could help prevent campaigns of intimidation and harassment, in addition to providing an additional tool of protection for marginalized people.

Twitter has yet to say when the feature might roll out.
