Twitter continues to slowly add new shopping-related features to its platform, following previousLive Shopping Experimentand In-app purchasesAfter trying it out, there is now a new one called “product drops”’s new shopping function to remind you when limited-time and limited-edition products are on sale.

Twitter said that its platform is often used to warm up limited-edition products or products that are in high demand, so adding a reminder function for buyers is a logical next step. Sellers who use product drops can tweet a link before a new product goes on sale, and interested buyers can get an in-app notification after clicking the link. Like other Twitter shopping-related features, Twitter is not responsible for the shopping process itself, but only directs traffic to the website designated by the seller.

Naturally, product drops will initially only be available to users in the US with English language. The big brands that will participate in the initial test include Dior, Home Depot and Fossil’s collaboration with designer Jeff Staple.
