In the last 24 hours, the officers of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) made two arrests of arsonists.
Specifically, according to an announcement by the Fire Department, a Greek man was arrested yesterday, August 5, 2024, in execution of an arrest warrant, as being responsible for causing four fires in the countryside, on purpose and in succession on June 8 and 09, 2024, in the Heroma area of Vari, Attica. The arrested person was taken to the Athens Prosecutor’s Office today and is being held, in order to apologize again.
In the meantime, on August 1, 2024, another Greek was arrested by investigative officers of the Elefsina Fire Service, as being responsible for causing three fires in the countryside by intention and as a result. This man was arrested as part of the ex officio procedure for a fire on July 31, 2024 and two fires on August 1, 2024, in the area of Magoula, Municipality of Elefsina, in Attica.
The arrested person was brought on August 3, 2024 to the Athens Prosecutor’s Office and today (Tuesday 6/8) after his confession, he was remanded in custody.
