Two heinous murders in Montreal: the victims would have been chosen at random

Two men presumably chosen at random would have been killed completely gratuitously in the space of 65 minutes, Tuesday evening, in Montreal.

The two heinous murders were allegedly committed by the same suspect or suspects, according to our information.

Wednesday noon, they still had not been arrested.

The first murder took place around 9:45 p.m. inside a bus shelter on boulevard Jules-Poitras, at the corner of boulevard Deguire, in the borough of Saint-Laurent.

At this location, a 64-year-old man who was visibly waiting for the bus was allegedly targeted.

Hit by at least one firearm projectile in the head, the victim had no chance. His death was pronounced on the spot.

The victim was possibly shot from outside the bus shelter. One of the bullets fired by his killer pierced one of the side windows of the bus shelter.

Barely an hour later, just 2.5 kilometers away, another man was shot in the middle of the street, near the intersection of Meilleur and Sauvé Ouest streets, in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

Again, the 48-year-old victim would have had no chance: he would have been shot at least once in the head at a very short distance.

According to our information, the 40-year-old was heading to his place of work when he was coldly shot for no reason.

These were the 16e et 17e murders to be committed in Montreal since the beginning of the year.

Major crime investigators, assisted by forensic identification technicians, spent all night, as well as part of Wednesday morning, analyzing the two crime scenes in an attempt to shed more light on this appalling affair.

In the past week alone, four murders and two attempted murders by firearm have taken place.

Last Thursday night, two young men aged 17 and 18 were shot and killed while they were in a car in Montreal West.

A few hours earlier, another shooting had occurred in the Pointe-Saint-Charles district and left two seriously injured, two men aged 18 and 20.
