The bullets rang out almost simultaneously in the Villas de La Candelaria and Nuevo Paraíso neighborhoods on Saturday, September 17, the Day of Love and Friendship. Both attacks were carried out by hit men on motorcycles and Wilson David Araújo Polo, 27, died in one of them. The other victim received five bullets and the last report that was known indicates that he was still under medical attention.
Araújo Polo, nicknamed ‘el Sowi’, was walking around 9 at night along Carrera 84 in Nuevo Paraíso, a few meters from Fredonia, when two men on a motorcycle approached him and one of them, the grill man, shot him point-blank and without saying a word. Residents of the sector managed to transfer ‘el Sowi’ to the Madre Bernarda Clinic, but the efforts were in vain. Doctors reported that he was admitted at 9:48 pm with no vital signs.
The Metropolitan Police did not report arrests for this fact, but it did confirm that the victim had four judicial entries in the Accusatory Oral Criminal System (SPOA) for the crimes of illegal possession of a firearm and conspiracy to commit a crime.
A few minutes before, at about 8:25 pm, another attack occurred that left an injured person in the Villas de La Candelaria neighborhood, near Villa Estrella. The victim was in a corner store when two men arrived on a motorcycle and one of them shot him without saying a word. The identity of this victim has not yet been confirmed.
