POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A medical rescue helicopter crashed near Fort Lauderdale Monday, injuring two people, authorities said.

Broward police said one of their fire-rescue helicopters crashed near Pompano Beach Airport shortly before 9:00 a.m. In a statement, the police said that two people were injured, but did not disclose their conditions or names, nor did further details be released.

A video posted online shows flames coming from the midsection of the helicopter, and a long column of smoke. The helicopter then appears to split in half as it begins to spiral and plummet to the ground.
