Two military helicopters collide in mid-flight (VIDEO)

PERAK.- A strong collision between two military helicopters left 10 dead and was captured in a video that has gone viral in social networks.

The incident occurred at the naval base in the state of Perakin Malaysiawhen two militia helicopters collided in midair during a training exercise.

According to the local media report, the accident took place within the framework of preparations to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Malaysian Navy.

The video of the moment when two military helicopters collided with each other in mid-flight was spread through social networks.

The helicopters were in formation when one of the aircraft unexpectedly turned to one side, striking the other. Due to the force of the impact, both plummeted and crashed to the ground, being completely destroyed.

The moment of the accident was captured in at least two videos, which were spread on social networks.

A total of 10 people, three women and seven men, between 26 and 41 years old, lost their lives in the accident. A swimmer who was in the area was injured by debris dislodged during the collision.

The swimmer was rushed to a medical center.

Seven of the deceased were on board a AW139 helicopter for maritime operations, manufactured by AgustaWestlandand the remaining three in a Fennec light helicopterproduced by Airbus.

Malaysian Navy celebrations canceled

Mohamed Khaled NordinMinister of Defense of Malaysia, reported that the festivities for the anniversary of the Navy this Friday have been canceled, instead prayers will be held in memory of the fatal victims of the accident.

The minister also confirmed that one of the helicopters crashed in an empty sports field and the other in a nearby swimming pool, as seen in one of the videos broadcast on social networks.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahimcalled the accident a “heart and soul tearing tragedy.”

The Malaysian Navy began an investigation to clarify the causes of the incident.
