Two players are leaving the Black Wings

After extending the contract with captain Brian Lebler, the Black Wings announced on Thursday that they would be parting ways with defender Martin Stajnoch and striker Dennis Sticha.

Sticha and Stajnoch experienced the season very differently. While Stajnoch played most of Linz’s games and, especially towards the end, threw himself at anyone and everyone who tried to threaten the Linz goal, Dennis Sticha had to watch for a long time injured.

Played 66 games

Martin Stajnoch played a total of 66 games for the Steinbach Black Wings. During his second stay in the steel city last season, the Slovakian contributed two goals and seven assists to Linz’s offensive success. In the plus-minus statistics, the 33-year-old ended the 2023/24 season with -3. These values are not bad for a defender who focuses more on defensive performance – but the Linzers still see potential for improvement in this position.

Sticha spent the last two years in Linz and played 26 games with the fighting team last year. Before last season, the 25-year-old took part in part of the preparation before injuries set him back again. It wasn’t until the end of January that the Vorarlberg native started playing again – but only with Steel Wings Linz AG. Sticha finished this season with six games and one goal scored in the Alps Hockey League.
