Two students in digital creation will exhibit at the Nuit Blanche in Montreal

ROUYN-NORANDA, QC, on 20 Feb. 2023 /CNW/ – The Immersive Digital Installation pandoracreated by Jeanne Lebigre et Fanny Josephgraduating from master’s degree in digital creation at UQATwill be presented on February 25 as part of the twentieth anniversary of the White Night in Montreal of Montreal High Lights Festivalan event that celebrates the arts in different forms and which takes place in the urban space of the metropolis as well as in many museums and other spaces for artistic dissemination.

Deeply challenged by the climate crisis, the two graduates wanted to create a unique creation related to this issue. pandora has thus been developed throughout their journey towards a master’s degree in digital creation. This installation features several mediums ranging from interactive technological devices to cathode-ray screens, including projection and a sound and immersive experience. pandora offers both a reflection on the issues related to the climate crisis as well as the insidious problems of misinformation.

The project pandora is welcomed for the occasion in the spaces of UQAM’s Urban Chronotopia Workshop, a research center dedicated to the documentation and dissemination of popular cultures and its ramifications in the city. The presentation of pandora as part of this major cultural event is part of the desire of the Teaching and Research Unit in Creation and New Media to promote outside its walls the talent and creativity of its student community.

“Pandora, in Greek mythology, is the one who did not listen to the warnings and who unleashed all the evils of humanity on Earth, like the human being who triggered the ecological crisis despite the repetitive warnings of the scientific community. Digital creation allows us here to combine technique, science and poetry, in such a way as to create an experience capable of making an impression and arousing commitment”, explains the student. Jeanne Lebigre. Recall that a first version of pandora was presented last April at the Musée d’Art de Rouyn Noranda.

About the Nuit Blanche event in Montreal

The Nuit blanche à Montréal is presented every year as part of the MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE festival. This festival was created at the concerted request of the three levels of government in order to energize Montreal’s winter tourist season and, consequently, consolidate its position as a cultural, gastronomic and festive metropolis, as well as its title as capital of festivals. MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE stands out thanks to its diversified programming combining gastronomy and free outdoor activities.

You can follow the project via social networks, either via Facebook or Instagram.
