Two thousand police officers deployed in 10 favelas in Rio de Janeiro

This Monday, around 2,000 agents of the security forces of Brazil They occupied ten favelas in Rio de Janeiro, amid a struggle for territorial control between drug trafficking gangs and paramilitary groups known as ‘militias’.

The mega-operation took place in the western part of the city in order to regain control of several neighborhoods where organized crime has increased its activities in recent years, the Rio government announced in a statement.

Three suspects have been arrested so far.according to the official preliminary assessment. “There is no place where the government will not enter.
