Two women have died after being attacked by a shark while swimming in the Red Sea, the Egyptian Ministry of Environment said. The incident took place in Hurghada, which is part of the southern Red Sea. Women from Austria and Romania died in shark attacks
One of the dead was from Tyrol, Austria. 68 years old. They had come to Egypt to celebrate the holiday. The Austrian Foreign Ministry confirmed the woman’s death. The Romanian Foreign Ministry also announced that a Romanian woman died in the shark attack.
Earlier, a tourist lost his left arm in a shark attack. Then some coasts that are part of the Red Sea were banned for tourists. According to official sources, tourists go into the sea bypassing this ban and this increases the risk of accidents. Sharks abound in the Red Sea. But they are usually not aggressive. In 2015 and 2018, there have been shark attacks on tourists who went into the sea.
